Guidance for employers and workers explaining the changes to employment rights as a result of the Employment Rights Act 2025 is available on the government’s website.
The website lists the changes that have been introduced so far, including a number of significant changes that took effect in April 2026. Unfair dismissal protections will change from 1 January 2027, including a shorter qualifying period and the removal of the cap on the compensatory award. Further changes will be introduced across 2026 and 2027, including changes to trade union legislation and reforms to protect employees from harassment.
The website includes detailed guidance on the individual changes, for both employers and workers.
The website will be updated regularly. You can also sign up for news and updates via email.
