Signing a will close up

Wills and estate planning

It often surprises us that only a third of the adult population have made a Will. It may be that you would rather not think about it just yet, or things always get in the way.

The best advice we can give you - don't leave it to chance. The Intestacy Laws govern what happens to your estate in the absence of a Will, which could mean your assets are not distributed in the way you wish.

Reasons to make a will:

  • It makes sure your wishes are respected
  • Wills prevent financial disputes
  • You can make definite provision for your loved ones
  • You can appoint a guardian for young children
  • It could reduce your estate's Inheritance Tax
  • Your circumstances have changed
  • You can prevent strangers from benefitting
  • You can leave money to charity
  • It is not expensive to do

Providing peace of mind

Remember, the law is not sentimental. Your money and property will not automatically go to your loved ones, so no Will could mean that your hard-earned inheritance goes to someone you might not know or like or to taxes.

Challenor Gardiner Solicitors are here to advise and to act on your behalf. One of our solicitors can draw up a Will according to your wishes and circumstances, so you need never worry that your family won't be provided for.
